Three-Year-Old Preschool Programs
The Three-Year-Old classroom is a place where children continue to learn self-care, early literacy, and interpersonal skills through fun activities. Two qualified child caregivers provide opportunities for the 20 toddlers in the room to use all of their senses as they learn about the world around them.
Some of the social skills fostered here include sharing, taking turns, using empathy, and expressing feelings. Children begin work on preschool skills like:
- Identifying colors and shapes
- Familiarizing themselves with the sounds that letters make
- Recognizing their first and last names
- Using counting games and songs to introduce children to number concepts and sequencing
Field trips are another way that the kids at Imagination Station learn skills. It is a new activity for the three-year-old group. The field trips also allow children to participate in a variety of interesting field experiences in the community.
Four-Year-Old Preschool Programs
The Four-Year-Old class expands upon personal, social, cognitive and other experiences accumulated in the earlier preschool programs. Two caregivers introduce 20 children to such preschool concepts as days of the week, months, weather, letter and number symbols, animals, seasons, transportation and more. Field trips relate to the weekly or monthly theme (i.e. going to the pumpkin patch when studying autumn, or the fire station when studying safety). Guest speakers become part of the curriculum, presenting material on cultural diversity (e.g., Hanukkah, Kwanzaa), community helpers (e.g., dentist, police officer) and so on.
